We are the Leaders in Passive House Design and Construction

PASSIVE HOUSE DESIGN

The incredible year-round fresh indoor air quality and stable temperature, the substantial reduction in energy use and operating costs, and the quiet atmosphere that the Passive House standard delivers are directly attributable to these five principles and the way they are integrated into a Passive House building. By following a holistic approach with these five principles through the design and construction on any project, owners, designers, and builders can be confident that they can achieve a truly high-performance building.

Five principles are key to the Passive House concept:

Passive House Window Design

Ventilation with heat recovery

Passive House ventilation systems provide plentiful fresh, pollen and dust-free
air with maximal energy efficiency through heat recovery

Passive house airtightness

Airtightness

Passive Houses are designed to avoid leakages in the building envelope, thus
boosting energy efficiency while preventing draughts and moisture damage.

Building Layout

Thermal bridge free design

Avoidance of thermal bridges, weak points in the building envelope, contributes to pleasant, even temperatures while eliminating moisture damage and improving energy efficiency.

“Passive house in Tseri

Our passive house built by M.I. PH DESIGN Ltd brings true meaning to the word “home”. Keeping us cool during hot summers and warm throughout winters, provides true comfort.

“Passive house Tsada“

Living in passive house is a totally different experience than living in any other type of house. Your worries are much less and your life is more convenient. You don’t need to worry about how you will warm up or how you will cool down your house or how much you will have to pay for it. Because the house does it by its self almost for free. When we had the idea to built up a passive house most of the people were very skeptical about it and it seemed in their eyes impossible. But when the temperature in Cyprus raised up to 46 Celsius the temperature in our house was 28 without even turning an air-condition on. And we enjoyed it. That was the best proof that passive house works even in extreme temperatures. The best part of a passive house though is the constant clean and fresh air. The house constantly cleans the air by its self. So we can have optimum temperatures in the house and clean air with almost zero cost for the rest of our lives. Plus you feel better with your self because your needs in the house do not burden the environment.

“Passive house in Limassol“

We’ve now been in our passivhaus through 4 seasons and it performed as well as we’d hoped it would.

We had a very wet winter and barely used any extra heating, just our wood stove on the ground floor and that was mostly for the atmosphere. In Spring, we didn’t experience the usual allergens and as we live in a very dusty country, the outside dirt and dust stayed exactly there, outside. In summer we had some extreme temperatures going over 40 degrees and only in the hottest part of the afternoon would we turn on the AC. Basically we are very happy with the system and working with a creative architect meant that we didn’t need to compromise on the beauty, luminosity and aesthetics of our house.
